Butanol is a colorless, transparent and alcohol-smelling liquid. It is the solvent of various coatings and the raw material of dibutyl phthalate as a plasticizer. It is also used in the manufacture of butyl acrylate, butyl acetate, ethylene glycol butyl ether and as an extractant of organic synthesis intermediates and biochemical drugs. It is also used in the manufacture of surfactants.
