1,2-propanediol is a chemical reagent which is miscible with water, ethanol and various organic solvents. Its chemical formula is C3H8O 2. Normally, it is a colorless viscous liquid, almost tasteless, with a slightly sweet smell. Propylene glycol can be used as raw material of unsaturated polyester resin. It can be used as a wetting agent in cosmetics, toothpaste and soap with glycerol or sorbitol. In hair dyes, it is used as a humidifier, evening agent, antifreeze, cellophane, plasticizer and pharmaceutical industry.
