Ammonia water is prepared by the passage of ammonia gas into water. Ammonia is poisonous, irritating and corrosive to eyes, nose and skin. It can make people suffocate. The maximum allowable concentration of ammonia in the air is 30mg/m3. It is mainly used as chemical fertilizer.

Industrial ammonia water is an aqueous solution containing 25%-28% ammonia. Only a small part of ammonia molecule reacts with water to form ammonia hydrate, which is a weak base only existing in ammonia water. The coagulation point of ammonia water is related to the concentration of ammonia water. The coagulation point of 20% concentration in common use (wt) is about - 35 C. It reacts with acid to produce heat. There is a danger of combustion and explosion. Specific heat capacity is 4.3 *10_J/kg (% ammonia)
