Butyl acetate, short for butyl acetate. Colorless transparent liquid with pleasant fruit aroma. The lower homologues are insoluble in water and miscible with organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers and ketones. Flammable. Acute toxicity is less, but it has a strong irritation to the eyes and nose, and can cause anesthesia at high concentration. Butyl acetate is an excellent organic solvent. It has good solubility to ethyl cellulose, cellulose acetate butyrate, polystyrene, methacrylic resin, chlorinated rubber and many kinds of natural gum.
